The Ride Home and Wrap Up (coming soon)

With over 40 years of riding motorcycles I embarked on my first Harley-Davidson organized cross-country ride called the “Posse Ride: Sea to Shining Sea.” This ride started in my back yard of San Diego and traveled across the Southern United States ending up in Tybee Island, Georgia just outside of Savannah. Completing this ride in the year 2000 got me hooked on the Harley-Davidson and HOG (Harley Owners Group) organized rides.

In 2001, my fiancé, Christine, and I rode with HOG on the “Route 66” ride from Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA following as much of the Old Route 66 as possible.  In 2002, Christine (now my wife) and I went on the “Lewis and Clark: Corps of Discovery Journey” from St Charles, MO (just outside of St Louis) to Seaside, OR following the Missouri River.  Our return trip followed West Coast Hwy 101 from Seaside, OR to home in San Diego County.

In 2003 I made the journey home from Harley-Davidson’s 100th Anniversary event in Milwaukee, WI.  This ride went west from Milwaukee to Billings, MT where I turned South through the Bear Tooth in Yellowstone, riding some of the best roads in the US.

In 2004 Christine and I embarked on our greatest adventure to date covering almost 9,000 miles through 22 states West of the Mississippi.  The ride was called the “Posse Ride: The Lower 48-Western Campaign.”  We traveled with over 600 other riders experiencing the west like never before . . .  on our motorcycles.

This year we are all geared up for the second half of our journey called the Posse Ride: The Lower-48 Eastern Campaign.”  We have outfitted Christine’s Harley to take on the extremes of long distance travel.  I am riding my trusty 2001 Screamin Eagle Road Glide that has been my steady companion for four major summer trips along with much of my everyday riding and also a SaddleSore 1000 ride in 2004.

Our ride begins June 16th in New Orleans, LA (the state where we ended our Western Campaign in 2004) with a little overnighter in the French Quarter before meeting up with hundreds of other Posse Riders in Mobile, AL (the official starting point for the ride).  Come join us for our 22 day adventure through the Eastern United States.  We hope you enjoy the pictures and stories.
