Day 20:  Eunice, LA to Baton Rouge, LA (88 miles)

Imagine this.... it’s Saturday morning at 8:00am and you’re sitting in a bar called Fred’s Lounge in Mamou, LA, where Cajun music originated.  The band is warming up and the radio station that is transmitting from there is broadcasting as we arrive.  Locals start filtering in and the fun begins... all before 9:00am.  What happens in Mamou stays in Mamou... complete with Tante Sue de Mamou and her local concoctions, the resident triangle player, the Donkey Song, and the very tasty Boudin.  After a morning of great music and the most unique fun we’ve ever had, we climbed on the bikes for our final journey across bridges spanning the swamps and bayous into Baton Rouge, LA to meet up with the rest of the posse riders for our last night together.

While none of us are accustomed to being in a bar at 8:00am listening to Cajun music and eating Boudin out of a cardboard box passed from local to local, we can honestly say this side trip was the highlight of this journey.
